Yearbook Cover Version 2

The overall theme of the RCHS yearbook is Diversity. My interpretation of diversity was shown through the theme of "Individuals Coming Together." The theme is portrayed on the front cover by a depiction of hands decorated in the school colors. Diversity is shown through the variety of hand sizes. The Bank cover is a original world that states all of the qualities that makes us individuals but also brings us together. I chose the theme "Individuals Coming Together," because RCHS is the epitome of that theme. The students here come from different walks of life, but we still have similarities among us.

Yearbook Cover Version One

The theme for this year's Yearbook is diversity. To show my interpretation of diversity, I created a collage of splatter paint in an assortment of different colors. In order to do so, I created my own custom shape and arranged the splatter images across the frame. I used a variety of opacity levels, colors, and sizes to show that even though we're all different, we still make a unique design.

Typography

I chose the word "love" for my typography assignment. Love can be seen from a perspective of sorrow or bliss so I wanted to create a background that portrayed that. I blended a picture of a cloudy gray sky and pink cotton candy to illustrate the expressions on the characters' faces, as well as, the two sides of love. The girl's smile looks underwhelmed while the boy looks cheerful. Gray skies are typically associated with depression and pain ans cotton candy is associated with happiness. I also thought the contrast in color would help the word stand out more.

Topic Outline

The title of my Capstone project is "Psyched for Psychology!" The title is kind of a play on words for the word Psyched as it can mean being excited or being intimidated by an event or person. The name of the actual test is "Psyched," so the title means being excited or intimidated by the diversity of psychology. My introduction to my project is an anecdote of my inspiration behind the project. My research has led me to the me to the conclusion that a great weakness in the field of psychology is lack of information about career opportunities presented to the psychology major.

The first half of my paper will explain the problem psychology majors face when deciding a career path so for my poster I summarized that idea into a paragraph.  More often than not, psychology majors are in love with the study and have great interest in the dynamic field; however, with the abundance of psychological disciplines, psychology majors find choosing a branch challenging.

Research has proven that stereotypes, misconceptions, and lack of information lead to generalizations about the field. According to one of my articles, when surveyed, the parents of psychology majors reported that a stereotype that they have relayed is, " You cannot do anything unless you have a doctorate's degree." I somewhat allude to this idea in the "what is it?" paragraph.

The "What is it?" paragraph is my solution is to create an aptitude test to guide and inform psychology majors. Guide being the key word. Most psychology majors do not realize how many options they actually have. "Psyched," is created to be a tool for the psychology major- something that demographic lacks. It is inspired by test that have been proven to work and will hopefully be a helpful guide.

In conclusion, my capstone end product is to create a tool for psychology majors. I created my poster as an advertisement for the test because I have a pamphlet that accompanies the test and I thought it would be redundant to post a reworking of the same information on a different medium.

Template Review

Rivera Report: peach, brown, teal, white
1.I like the layout of the template
2. I like the color scheme used.
3. It is the only template that mentions psychology.

Presenta Board: blue, black, white, red
1. I like the fonts and graphics used.
2. The layout best suits my "description over stats" format.
3. It's a free template that is easy to mimic.

Coffee vs. Tea: green, tan, white, brown, blue
1. The coffee vs. tea can be easily converted into a pro vs. con
2. Could possibly be the easiest template for me to work with without the graphic being boring.
3. The design is simplistic yet still catches the eye.
